OUR DAILY REFLECTION

TAKE TIME TO THINK 1
Text: Philippians 4:8

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Do you think at all? While growing up, we used to be told that it is not good to think, and consequently, a lot of people have grown up never to learn how to think. As much as thinking is not bad, in fact, the Scripture encourages it, we must understand the difference between thinking and anxiety.

While thinking means to ponder on something within one’s heart or communicate with oneself, anxiety means being apprehensive or nervous about an uncertain event. God hates anxiety, and so, He has promised to take care of us as we learn to lean or abide in Him (Matt 6:25-34).

However, He wants us to cultivate the habit of thinking because He is also a thinker. Jere 29:11 says He knows the thought He THINKS towards us. When we think, God wants it to be on beautiful and godly things (Phil 4:8) since our thought determines what is reproduced in us (Pro 23:7a), He also wants us to think about His marvelous works (Ps 77:12), among others.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
Whatever you think on grows in you.

PRAY:
Father, please deliver me from all forms of anxiety in Jesus’ name.
