Text: Luke 9:23-24
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.”
Being a true disciple of Christ is about discipline. No man lives up to the Master’s expectation without living a disciplined life. Matt 16:24 says “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
To live a disciplined life is all about denying oneself. Apostle Paul said in 1 Cor 6:12 that “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any” and in 10:23, he said “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.”
Have you been able to differentiate between what is good and right for your Christian journey? Note this: that something is good does not make it right for you. Whatever does not matter to your vision or destiny is not worth embracing or saying ‘yes’ to.
REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
To keep your discipleship, you must strive to daily carry your cross.
Father, I receive grace for a disciplined life in Jesus’ name.
