Text: Philippians 4:4
“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”
Often time, we allow our situations to determine what becomes of us and how we respond to God’s things. For example, how would you tell a man who is currently going through a tough time or someone who’s just lost a precious soul to be happy? It sounds somehow.
But then, according to today’s reading, we are instructed to rejoice always, and according to 1 Thess 5:18, it says “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” God’s will is never for us to be sad or sorrowful which is why one of the fruits the Holy Spirit produces in us is joy.
One thing I have learned to do, no matter the situation I find myself, is to look at something that is still worth thanking God for. Sorrow saps us of our divine strength and denies us of God’s presence. So, no matter how high the challenge may be, always remember God will never leave you without a reason to rejoice.
REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
Sorrow saps us of our divine strength and denies us of God’s presence.
Holy Spirit, please fill me with your joy in Jesus’ name.
