“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Some of you need to turn off the TV and start spending serious time with God. If you think I’m being emphatic, I am. Not for any other reason than I believe God by His Spirit has giveTVn me this topic to write about as a message to those who need to hear it. If the truth be told, and the truth isn’t always so easy to hear, nor to tell, some of you have a stronger relationship with, and greater faithfulness and devotedness to, your TV than God. And some of you who have a strong relationship with God are being distracted and drawn away from Him and are neglecting Him because of the time you’re spending with your TV instead of Him. Some of you are treating your TV like an illicit lover. Some of you are in an adulterous affair with your TV. Some of you are choosing TV over God, and at the very least as a distraction from Him.

some can watch season films and forget their prayer time while some neglected their families because of their soul tie to TV programmes that promote adulterous life, thereby leading to breaking of God heart and even void their relationship with families and loved ones.

Are you breaking the heart of God with your TV? Some of you are neglecting God with your TV. Some of you have altogether abandoned Him with it. Some of you are holding the remote in the air up above God, pointing it at the TV, and channel surfing with your eyes and ears AND HEARTS glued to the TV instead of God regardless of whether what you’re watching is trash or wholesome. Some of you love your TV more than God. Some of you are more consumed by what’s on it than you are captivated by God, His Word, and ways – regardless of how much you’re justifying what you’re watching.

Turn off the TV. Go before the Lord. Pour out your heart, your repentance, your praise, your worship, your prayers. Seek Him. Spend time with Him. Study His Word. Hear His voice. Obey Him. Follow Him. Stop denying God for your TV. Deny your TV for God. If God is speaking to you, please obey.

“And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.” Luke 5:18-19 underlining added

When a bunch of men went to exceeding lengths to help a paralyzed man get through the crowd to get the healing he needed, they didn’t lift him up and lower him through the roof to get to a church pew. They went to any lengths to BRING HIM TO JESUS. The Bible says “they sought means to BRING HIM IN” and “by what means they might BRING HIM IN,” and that they succeeded in bringing the paralytic “into the midst BEFORE JESUS.” (bold added) The man didn’t get healed because he went to church that day. He was healed because he was BROUGHT TO JESUS.

For YEARS I dragged people, from loved ones to strangers, to churches, pastors, and believers in Christ, convinced they needed the perfect church, pastor, or Christian to help them. Then God by His Spirit and through His Word taught me THE TRUTH. This world needs repentance from sin, faith in JESUS CHRIST, salvation by Him, and a life devoted to God and His ways. We need our minds renewed by God’s Spirit through His Word whereby He transforms our hearts and lives and draws us ever deeper into an intimate forever relationship with Him. This world needs to be brought to JESUS Himself.

Church pews are packed with lots of people who don’t even believe in Christ and/or don’t live to love, obey, and glorify the Lord; pastors are never perfect and tragically are sometimes false teachers and false prophets; and Christians are fallible. There is nothing wrong with Bible-teaching churches, truly called and devoted pastors, and Christians who are sold out to Christ. In fact, God calls us to assemble with other believers and to be planted in the Body of Christ, and he gives us biblically sound pastors and teachers to grow in our relationships with Him.

The story of the paralytic shows what I was missing. The only perfect, true, righteous Savior of the world is Christ, and our primary relationship MUST be with God through faith in Christ. Dragging people to churches, pastors, and Christians is not what we need to do. We need above all else to introduce people to the Lord Jesus Christ, to the pure Gospel message, to the Word of God, and to encourage them in turning away from the world’s wickedness and to live to love, worship, serve, and glorify God forever!

we need to emphasize on the Savior and not the church.

How often do we ask God for everything, but we don’t stop to listen or to be still?   The act of being still and getting quiet becomes more of a challenge in our hectic world. The world asks us to be busy. God asks us to be still so that we can receive love, peace and guidance.

Along with busyness comes the fearful and anxious thoughts we hold onto. It’s been stated that we have more than 50,000 thoughts a day. Those thoughts aren’t always good ones. You know the ones, I can’t believe I messed up, I’m an idiot, I can’t do it, It’s too hard, I’m a failure, I’m a fraud, I’m too old, I’m too young…..

We must learn to tell our fearful and anxious thoughts to shut up, just as Jesus calmed the sea. Jesus immediately asked the question to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Have you so little faith?”

Quieting the mind, shutting up the mind requires practice. One powerful way to shut up thoughts that don’t serve us is by  listening to God!
